I am very very excited to embark on my Let's Play Music journey. The more I learn about it (and I've been reading/watching/devouring everything I can about it), the more pumped I'm becoming. Why are you so excited, I can hear you asking (where do I put the question mark in that statement?) . ? It's just another music program like tons out there. Right? WRoNG! This teaches little kids things about music I bet you didn't even know they could learn. Maybe you don't even know them. Honestly, some of the things I've seen, I didn't even learn until my first semester in college music theory classes. Boom! I'm telling you, it's going to be amazing.
When my friend who has been teaching this for years told me about it, she told me the kinds of things her daughter who just graduated from the program can do. She can play a melody, then transpose it to any key, then add a bass line harmony, and then improvise on it. What the heck? How old is she? 7?! Results may vary, right? Maybe this is the next Mozart/Justin Beiber (choose your genre, but choose wisely...). Child prodigy, no doubt. No, she said that's what they are ALL taught. Well, as a pretty much life-long music educator, I am absolutely drooling at this prospect. This is definitely something I can get passionate about. Can you tell? Sigh. I'll let you know how it all goes, and I hope to be able to inspire some of you out there (does anyone even read this thing?) to look into this amazing program for yourselves and your kids. Seriously, I'm not just saying this because I want to grow my studio. I do, of course, want to grow my studio, but candidly, I've never seen a program quite like this, and I've had numerous fellow musician friends flip when they've learned about it. That's gotta tell you something, right? Plus, several of my music major friends from college are now teaching it. Approval stamps all over it, boy! Can't wait to get started!
